Forced turnovers and free throws in overtime gave the Clearview Clippers a 75-63 victory over Oberlin and the Patriot Athletic Conference title. The Phoenix, who stood to tie for the honor, entered the game 12-2 in the PAC Stripes division, trailing the Clippers by a game. Oberlin started on fire, jumping out to a 12-0 lead, but Clearview chipped away at that advantage for a 33-30 lead at the half. From long range, the Phoenix were cold, struggling to make just two of 20 attempts. Yet they managed to go up by five points late in the game — right before Clearview mounted a comeback to tie with 25 seconds left in regulation. Tied at 56-all, the game went into overtime, where Oberlin led early but slipped. Donald Johnson topped the Phoenix scoring chart with 16 points, followed by Devan Yarber with 12 and Justin Smith with 10. The Clippers’ Deuce Martin was unstoppable, though, racking up 33 with support from DeAn Todd and Jamel Billings, who had 12 points each.
