Foreclosures shown in personal light
An art show opening on Sunday in the FAVA Gallery gives a glimpse into the life of photographer Charles Mintz, while trying to find meaning in the foreclosure crisis.
The show, “Every Place I Have Ever Lived: The Foreclosure Crisis in Twelve Neighborhoods,” examines the foreclosure crisis on a personal level.
“Basically, what I’ve done is photograph foreclosed homes in every neighborhood where I have lived,” Mintz said. “One of them is my childhood home in Highland Heights, so it is very personal for me. That was the one that sort of started this.”
The pieces in the show are images of the houses printed on fabric screwed to 4-by-4-foot pieces of plywood. A second image of each house is printed on a window shade fastened to the plywood and pulled down in front of the first image.
