Stabbed Ohio woman hits child with car, both dead

CLEVELAND (AP) — A woman was stabbed during an argument while sitting behind the wheel of a car, tried to drive away and struck her attacker's 2-year-old daughter, authorities said Friday. The woman and the girl both died, and the toddler's mother was found naked several blocks away and arrested.

The death of Sharice Swain, 29, of Cleveland, was being investigated as a homicide. The child's name wasn't immediately released by the coroner. Her 1-year-old sibling also was struck, but the injuries apparently were not life-threatening.

The nature of the argument wasn't disclosed, and it wasn't clear if Swain hit the girl intentionally or accidentally.

The attacker apparently had taken off her clothes after the stabbing, authorities said. She was treated for a hand injury. Police said she was in custody, but there was no word on any charges.

A neighbor, Nicki Randall, said she took the dying girl into her arms and the child went limp.

"My first instinct was to scoop her up," Randall told WEWS-TV.

Randall said she was ready to drive the child to the hospital when firefighters arrived and took the girl.
